Delay Causes and Types in Nigerian Power Construction Projects

Numerous events cause delays to entire power projects’ completion timelines, leading loss. This paper focuses on revealing the critical delay causes in Nigerian projects and identifying types such as excusable delay, compensable concurrent from different perspectives of owner contractor. Based survey 84 industrial experts distribution transmission Nigeria, this study provides mean score rank 39 causes. Among causes, 14 are identified project. The top three corruption bureaucracy government, inadequate fund/budget allocation, price fluctuation/inflation. Owner contractor do not show difference classifying into delays. However, there was a between categorizing whether is or not. A viewpoint can lead dispute which may other losses, thus it meaningful understand perceived Even though depending an individual project, results serve reference would be beneficial for practitioners construction industry help identify manage them effectively.
